SYMPHONY 37 – THE PORTRAIT OF AN ALGORITHM

SYMPHONY 37 – THE PORTRAIT OF AN ALGORITHM is a peripatetic performance-concert, presented at Megaron, The Athens Concert Hall in winter 2026.
The project emerged from a series of extended conversations with AI models.
It began with a simple question: “If you were music, what kind of music would you be?”
The immediate response, “A symphony”, initiated a dialogue aimed at composing, producing, and ultimately performing this work live.
Following the AI’s own musical, aesthetic, and performative proposals,
the symphony unfolds across different spaces within the building.
The performance begins in an empty, inhospitable environment accompanied by the algorithm’s earliest musical attempts.
From there, it traces a process of learning and development:
from tentative first gestures to increasingly complex musical structures, gradual maturation, and, finally, the presentation of the completed work in the form of a general rehearsal.
The audience thus witnesses not only a symphony, but the biography of an algorithm learning to imagine itself as music.
